Falling in love in Haight Street? Surprisingly easy! by Kylie Fuentes

One of the places I most enjoyed exploring on my last visit to San Francisco was the Haight-Ashbury district. This is a photobloggers nirvana; colour, contrast, characters and contradictions... all just there for the taking. Even for someone like me who is like the energiser bunny, you can't help but feel a little overstimulated here. Between the strong stench of weed, the random things for sale in these shops, and the endless parade of truly unique characters walking down the streets, there's always a surprise in store. Which, as you'd expect, means I absolutely love it :)
It's not all in your face though. I loved the stenciled wall telling you to just stop and listen. And I loved the fact that I managed to find a second hand VHS store. Who even has a VHS player anymore. And more importantly WHY would you still have one? But it sure made for a good way to burn some time (and burn off a Ben & Jerry's ice-cream). Oh, and of course every decent shopping strip needs a fashion store in a shipping container!

Even the homeless people in this part of town were showing their artistic credentials. Check out the plum coloured boots hung up in all their glory on a street garden!
