Devil in the (architectural) details / by Kylie Fuentes


One thing I'll say about the architects and designers of old world Sevilla is that they didn't ever stop short of focusing on the fine detail & finishes.


The pic above is the ceiling in the old palace in the centre of Sevilla, it's from the 15th century or something ridiculous like that, but still looks as impressive today as I'm sure it was back then.

There are so many ornate finishes on everything around here... I mean, you walk around the streets and find in some back alley somewhere a very elaborate shrine to some Virgen de la something or other (there are many Virgens in Andalucia).

Without showing you all the religious shrines, I thought I'd put up some of the examples of fine finishing work that you find lying around the streets here...
