In December, drinking Horchata

Alright, it's not December but drinking Horchata is better when it is hot and sunny anyway.

On my way down south I stopped in to the beautiful city of Valencia. Horchata originally comes from Valencia, so I thought I'd pull up a chair in a small bar and enjoy a tasty Paella Valenciana and an icy cold drink.

I don't really know what's in Horchata, something to do with almonds or whatever - but I do know that it is damn tasty!

The pitstop in Valencia was really nice (although kinda rushed) but I did get to wander around for a bit before heading off on my long drive down the AP-7 (AutoPista Mediterraneo) to Malaga. It's about 500kms, so not exactly a short drive from Tarragona. Still, when there are very loose rules around speeds on freeways, you get there in no time. I was sitting on about 135kms per hour the whole way, but there were people flying past me in their Porsche Cayennes and other big machines. At a guess they'd have to be doing 150 for sure.

Too bad if you don't drive a manual transmission - all hire cars are pretty much manual. Plus you need to deal with the left hand drive thing. And the impatient driving and the weird roundabout rules... Yep, I've never driven in Spain before so it's been a steep learning curve.

Got to Malaga unscathed, the drive was actually really beautiful, right along the coast line. So many stunning little towns along the way. Too bad I didn't have enough time to stop and check them out.
