On the streets by Kylie Fuentes

If you walk around here with your eyes open properly for more than 5 minutes, you'll notice some really cool attention to detail on finishes & architecture.

Oh, and speaking of attention to detail, here's some of the small things I've noticed since being in the lovely Santiago:

  • Everyone wears puffer jackets - and if it's The North Face then it's even better
  • Everyone is totally unaware how ridiculously gorgeous the view of the mountains against the city skyline looks (check it out below)
  • Everyone smokes, all of the time.
  • Art is everywhere. Including in metro stations and on steel fences.
  • They love meat. When we did wine tasting, the guy actually said 'this wine is heavy. You probably don't want to eat it with a very meaty dish. Maybe just 50% of the meal should be meat'. Yes. True.
  • It's cheaper (and more readily available) to drink beer than it is to drink Coke. We've made the transition to beer drinkers as a result

Shades of amber by Kylie Fuentes

The winter has well and truly hit Chile and from what I keep hearing on the radio and TV,  it's some kind of record cold snap.  But that doesn't deter me from heading outside and snapping up as many pics as I can while I'm running around doing a whole lot of crazy, crazy things... (that's a WHOLE other story!).

The sun is beautiful here. When it sets, it drops the most incredible amber light onto everything. Which makes for really spectacular pictures if you're lucky enough to snap one. But don't let that warm glow of light deceive you. It isn't warm at all. Nope, usually just 10 degrees during the day. Yep. Cold.
