I went to see my very first bull fight. I thought it was something I should do at least once & I'm glad I went.
To be honest, the first faena was very hard for me to watch. But it's kinda weird, by the second or third you sort of get desensitised. One of the Novillos was very cocky (he was very very good though) so he was on his knees in front of the 500kg bull egging him on to charge. The bull did and the torero got out of the way, just. His cape got caught on the horns so when he went to get up he tripped and the bull went straight for him. Horns into legs, bull hoofs into stomachs.... ouch.
The torero got out of it and was actually uninjured (although I would hate to see his bruises tonight!) but of course the bull went down afterwards.
There's definitely difficulty in what these men do, they have some big hairy cojones that's for sure. No way in hell I'm getting that close to 500kgs of angry animal with horns - ever. And they are not stupid either. Very impressive animal.
