Not all hot dogs and pretzels by Kylie Fuentes

After spending over a month in some of the best foodie places on earth, heading to New York was bound to be a backwards step on the culinary scale.

But all is not as it seems. After doing a bit more digging beneath the surface in SoHo, I managed to uncover some of the better food joints. To be honest though, all the places with the great food all happened to be run by European migrants... Coincidence much!?

I know, I know... I might be a bit biased. But let's be honest, is there anyone on earth who doesn't love Mediterranean cuisine? If they don't, they're not to be trusted!

Dumbo isn't a fat little elephant by Kylie Fuentes

Dumbo is the funkiest little 'burb in Brooklyn. We stumbled across the 2011 Dumbo Arts Festival yesterday which was an awesome experience.

Music in the street, unexpected street art installations, free samples,  a Homer Simpson style Pie Tasting competition and the most famous little food vending trucks in the US. I have never spent much time in Brooklyn before (it was always only for shopping!) so this time I got to wander around a bit more and see what it's made of.

Let's just say, I now get the hype around the borough... I'd call my child after this town too Victoria Beckham!
